Crime Prevention Workshop

The presentation will focus on personal and home safety; mail, phone and computer fraud and scams; the ‘vacation house program’; and important techniques for protecting yourself. Lieutenant Grace Towler will discuss different issues that are threats to the community, increase awareness of certain crimes, and teach participants what to do to intervene and prevent victimization. The United Way Volunteer Income Tax Assistance (VITA) Program will offer tax preparation service for eligible households who make $66,000 or less. at the FISH Palm Ridge location -- 2330 Palm Ridge Road, #16, Sanibel, next to Island Pharmacy, from 9:00a-1:00p. Guest speaker Lois Kellet, Hope Parkinson Program, will discuss signs and symptoms, diagnosis, and current treatments, that can benefit those with Parkinson's and their care partners.  Parkinson's disease, a progressive nervous system disorder, affects over 1 million Americans with 60,000 new cases per year.  Although there is still no cure, advances have been made in the study of the complexity of the disease, opening new approaches to treatments.
