Helping Neighbors: F.I.S.H. OF SANCAP’s Cooking With Kids Returns


Back, by popular demand -- Cooking With Kids -- sponsored by FISH in partnership with Dr. Loureen Downes, Professor, Florida Gulfcoast University. Young chefs with their parents learn about nutrition to create kid-friendly meals. Cooking With Kids will be held at St. Michael & All Angels Episcopal Church from 6:00 p.m. to 7:30 p.m. on Tues., Sept. 29th. The program motivates and empowers children and their families to make healthy food choices through hands-on activities. Dr. Downes will teach participants about food safety and various cooking techniques. Children and their parents will discover that delicious food can be easy to prepare and is an important way to take care of health and wellness. During the event, Downes will use foods that most everyone has on hand in their own homes to demonstrate the importance of a balanced diet. Once the meal is prepared, everyone will have an opportunity to taste their kitchen creations. “We focus on education and nutrition while highlighting the joy of cooking with family and friends. Once again, thank you to St. Michael & All Angels Episcopal Church for offering to host such a wonderful program,” says Christine Swiersz, F.I.S.H. Program Director.
