Helping Neighbors: An Island Based agency

F.I.S.H. OF SANCAP is a human services organization, focused for over thirty years on ‘neighbors helping neighbors’. The mission of F.I.S.H. is to lend a helping hand to those who live, work or visit here. The F.I.S.H. vision is to enrich the lives of everyone on Sanibel and Captiva Islands through an array of Food Programs, Island Based Workshops, Social Services and Helping Hands. FISH is recognized as an outstanding, high performing nonprofit as evidenced by several awards, including the 2013 Best Humanitarian Award, the 2013 Edison Festival of Light Honorary Grand Marshal and the 2013 Good Samanitarian Award.

Located at 2430 Periwinkle Way, FISH provides programs, workshops and services for the community. Workshops and services are island based, and held at either the FISH Walk-In Center or at a partner office site, island location. Staffed by three full time professionals, including a licensed clinical social worker and over 150 volunteers, FISH a "neighbors helping neighbors" organization, and offers a wide range of human services including:

• Emergency financial assistance

• Food pantry

• In-home visitation

• Non-emergency transport on and off the Island

• Temporary loan of health equipment

• Hurricane preparedness information

• Daily hot meals program
