The IRS Volunteer Income Tax Assistance (VITA) Program offers tax assistance for qualified taxpayers. Households who make $58,000 or less and need assistance in preparing their tax returns qualify for the VITA program at no cost to them. Certified trained volunteers provide basic income tax return preparation to individuals in our community. VITA preparers can inform taxpayers about special tax credits that may be applicable such as Earned Income Tax Credit, Child Tax Credit, and Credit for Elderly or the Disabled. VITA will offer tax preparation on Friday, Jan. 29th from 9 a.m.—3.p.m. at the FISH Walk-In Center. Other dates include Fri., Feb. 12 and 26; Fri. Mar. 11 and 25; and Fri. Apr. 8.
