Sanibel Captiva Trust Co. Returns as Sole Premier Sponsor of 8th Annual 10K Race 4 F.I.S.H.
The Sanibel Captiva Trust Company returns as the sole Premier Sponsor of the 8th Annual 10K Race 4 F.I.S.H. The increasingly popular race supports the non-profit organization F.I.S.H. of Sanibel-Captiva in continuing to provide important services for those in need, who live, work or visit the islands.
“We are pleased to support F.I.S.H. in its tremendous efforts to lend a helping hand,” Trust Company Founder and Chairman Al Hanser said. “Neighbors helping neighbors is a mission we believe helps strengthen the fabric of our community.”
The Trust Company, established on Sanibel in 2001, manages $1.4 billion in assets, and has in-house investment anaylists caring for individually managed portfolios tailored to their client's needs and goals. The firm also focuses on enriching the island community through valuable charitable contributions.
“The investment we make in the 10K race pays dividends for thousands of people who benefit from the programs and services provided by F.I.S.H.,” Trust Company President Dick Pyle said.
In 2015, F.I.S.H. had a positive impact on the lives of 1,478 households. Its food pantry distributed 86,793 pounds of food to 350 households. Other food programs delivered 1,639 backpacks to 65 children and 2,216 meals to 34 households. Social services include reassurance phone calls, counseling and medial or essential transportation.
The Helping Hands programs provided 150 households with emergency financial assistance and 74 youth with scholarships in 2015. Local volunteers gave more than 6,000 hours of service and drove 29,205 miles last year on behalf of F.I.S.H. and its clients.
“F.I.S.H. staff and volunteers help others to live independently and with dignity in their day-to-day lives,” Pyle said. “They are wonderful assets in our community and we are delighted to be a part of this worthy cause.”
The 10K Race 4 F.I.S.H. is set for 7:30 a.m. Saturday, Oct. 15 with The Sanibel Community Park, 2231 Periwinkle Way, serving as the start and finish line this year. Hundreds of runners and supporters travel from near and far to be a part of Sanibel's only foot race.
“We are grateful for Sanibel Captiva Trust Company's loyal support as race day's Premier Sponsor,” said 10K Race Committee Co-Chair Ed Ridlehoover. “Their continued support allows F.I.S.H. to help our island neighbors of all ages when they need it most.”
