F.I.S.H. OF SANCAP Food Pantry Needs Donations
The F.I.S.H. Food Pantry is one of F.I.S.H. OF SANCAP’s most vital services. Once qualified by FISH social workers, households are given a food pantry card to shop for items to supplement their household grocery needs. The food pantry is open Mon. through Fri. from 10 a.m. – 4 p.m. While many island businesses, residents and visitors make food donations to help keep the food pantry stocked, the slower summer months deplete its shelves. This time of year in particular, the Food Pantry needs your help.
Personal products, paper products and nutritional drinks, such as Boost™, are urgently needed by our local community! These essential items are not covered under food stamps or other assistance, yet are used frequently by Food Pantry consumers. Too much fruit from your tree? FISH accepts donations of backyard fruit! Simply collect the fruit from your tree and bring it to the Walk-In Center/Food Pantry located at 2430 Periwinkle Way, directly behind Bleu Rendezvous Bistro.
The F.I.S.H. Food Pantry accepts donations of food, including perishables, personal products, and other items, Mon. through Fri. from 8 a.m. – 4 p.m. Over the weekend, individuals may leave non-perishable food and other items in the drop-off bin located outside the Walk-In Center entrance. Please make sure that all food donated has not been opened if it is not individually wrapped, and that the inner packaging is still intact. Please, no expired food. FISH is always in need of:
Canned Products: Tuna, Vegetables, and Soup; Fruits and Fruit Juices; Pork & Beans; Stews & Other Meats
Packaged Foods: Pasta, Lentils, Pinto and other beans; Macaroni & Cheese & Packaged Dinners; Instant Soups; Hot and Cold Cereals; Peanut Butter & other Nut Butters; Nutritional Bars: protein, granola, energy or breakfast bars
Please remember us if you have extras of the following:
bath & shower gel
toothpaste and toothbrush
Paper towels, toilet paper
Additionally, the often overlooked casualty of hard times is the family pet that provides ccompanionship for many households. Pet foods are also urgently needed. Sadly, many pets go without adequate nutrition each day. FISH wants to help them receive the nutrition they need to grow and develop into strong and healthy family members. FISH now has a special section at their Food Pantry devoted exclusively to dog and cat nutrition so that Food Pantry households have easy access to the foods that are so vital to the health and well-being of their pets. We proudly accept pet food donations to help families keep their pets at home and healthy.
For additional information or to make an in-kind product or cash donation to the Food Pantry, please contact the FISH Walk-In-Center at 239-472-4775.
