Historic Island Inn Supports 10K Race 4 F.I.S.H. as Silver Sponsor
The historic Island Inn is a silver sponsor of the 8th Annual 10K Race 4 F.I.S.H. benefiting the non-profit F.I.S.H. of SANCAP. Sanibel's only foot race is at 7:30 a.m. Saturday, Oct. 15 with the start-finish line at Sanibel Community Park.
“The Island Inn is honored to support the F.I.S.H. 10K,” Island Inn General Manager Chris Davison said. “It is a wonderful charity that gives great support to people who live, work or visit our beautiful islands.”
For more than a century, the Gulf of Mexico breezes have been embracing visitors to the Island Inn. Established in 1895 by early pioneers, the Matthews family, a spacious 10 acres of Gulf-front property houses 49 rooms and cottages for a relaxing stay on the Inn's pristine shell-strewn beach.
While proud of its place as the oldest Inn on Sanibel, savvy travelers have grown to appreciate the modern sophistication offered by Island Inn. It underwent renovations to transform accommodations into tranquil island getaways with flat screen televisions, DVD players and free Wi-Fi access – all surrounded by tropical landscaping, sea air and the soft sound of the surf.
“The Island Inn has a long and eventful Sanibel history closely intertwined with many of the families who live here,” Davison said. “We are very proud of the Inn's involvement in the community, but it is not just a tradition with us. It is a daily commitment for Island Inn to preserve our community's way of life and help our neighbors thrive.”
F.I.S.H. has been dedicated to making a social investment in the island communities of Sanibel and Captiva for more than three decades. In 2015, the organization positively impacted the lives of 1,478 households representing 2,092 individuals.
“Island Inn's support of F.I.S.H. is greatly appreciated,” said 10K Race Committee Co-chair Nancy Bender. “Their long-standing commitment to our community helps make it a better place to live, work or visit.”
