Helping Neighbors: FISH Hosts ‘Caring For A Loved One With Alzheimer’s Or A Dementia-Related Diseas
F.I.S.H. OF SANCAP, Alvin A. Dubin Alzheimer’s Resource Center and Arden Courts of Fort Myers, will host a ‘Caring for a loved-one with Alzheimer’s or a Dementia-Related Disease’ Seminar on Tues., Jun. 27, 2017 from 12:00 – 2:30 p.m. at The Sanibel Community Church, 1740 Periwinkle Way. Lunch will be provided, and RSVPs are required.
The month of June is Alzheimer’s and Brain Awareness Month. This complimentary educational program is for those caring for a family member, neighbor or friend who has Alzheimer’s or a dementia-related disease, or anyone that wants to learn more about these diseases. Mary Freyre, Health Education Specialist and RN with Alvin A. Dubin Resource Center, will present valuable information on this topic. Participants will also have the opportunity to take a virtual dementia tour, guided by Melissa Speciale, Marketing Director for Arden Courts of Fort Myers.
“Anyone involved in the care of seniors will encounter individuals living with dementia. The insight provided by the Virtual Dementia Tour will alter perspectives and change the way you approach caregiving,” states Kathy Y. Monroe, M.S.G., FISH Program Director. “We are pleased to have both presenters offer this educational opportunity to our community, and we look forward to offering information that will change the perception of aging and improve the lives of those living with dementia as well as those who care for them.”
