F.I.S.H. OF SANCAP Assists With Hurricane Relief
As our Sanibel & Captiva island neighbors, workers and visitors return post Irma, we want them to know F.I.S.H. is here to help. Whatever your needs are, please reach out to see if we can assist. All of our programs are fully operational. From our Food Pantry to our Meals Program to our Temporary Emergency Financial Assistance, F.I.S.H. is your ‘Neighbors Helping Neighbors’ agency.
States Maggi Feiner, President & CEO, “We are currently assessing what our neighbors’ needs truly are. As employers’ repair damage and struggle to re-open, many have lost hours or are not yet back to work, and are in need of food, emergency financial assistance and more. Many of our off-island employees still do not have power, and require temporary shelter. Several more cannot reside in their homes due to damage. It may be weeks before we truly know the full extent of those in crisis.”
F.I.S.H. is partnering with the community, and has received gift cards, personal hygiene kits, food and offers to assistance through volunteerism. The Charitable Foundation of the Islands has generously provided a grant to assist with the emergency financial assistance program for hurricane relief. “We cannot thank CFI enough for caring for our island neighbors and helping us do what we do best,” says Nicole McHale, F.I.S.H. Board Chair. “This CFI funding will allow our neighbors to get back on track from what was a devastating and stressful ordeal for so many Southwest Floridians. Private donors have contributed to the F.I.S.H. Hurricane Relief Fund as well, and we thank each and every one of them from the bottom of our hearts.”
F.I.S.H. is encouraging those affected by Hurricane Irma and needing assistance to call their Walk-In Center Mon. – Fri. from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. or the 24-Hour Answering Service at 239-472-0404. Individuals seeking emergency financial assistance must meet with the F.I.S.H. Social Services Department for an intake. Certain documentation is required, and it is advised to make an appointment. For additional information, please contact Nitza Lopez, S.W., Case Manager or Kathy Y. Monroe, M.S.G., F.I.S.H. Program Director at the Walk-In-Center.
