Helping Neighbors: F.I.S.H. – Always There For Everyone!
Sanibel, FL (Oct. 9, 2017) – “This past Christmas Season my grandie, Braelyn, and I were given the opportunity to be in the Captiva Golf Cart Parade. My husband, Jim, family and other grandies would be watching. One problem existed; Jim, awaiting back surgery, could not walk the distance from the car to a spot along the parade path. Suddenly I thought, “Call F.I.S.H even though the parade is just hours away. Maybe, just maybe, I can get a wheelchair for him and he could be present too.
For years I have been on [Captiva] Chapel’s Mission Committee, giving me the opportunity to tour FISH and in amazement see all the ways people here on Captiva and Sanibel are being helped. BUT it was not until that same day when I called to ask ‘would it be possible to have a wheelchair today? ‘ and they responded, ‘of course, use it as long as you need it,’ did I fully understand .
F.I.S.H. helps all in need to be symbolically ‘wheeled to a place of mobility’, to ultimately be able to walk with dignity on their own! Thank you F.I.S.H.” Susen and Jim Berg, Captiva Island residents
