Helping Neighbors: F.I.S.H. Welcomes Community to Open House
F.I.S.H. OF SANCAP invites the community to their annual Open House, to be held Monday, November 11 from 4:00 PM - 6:00 PM at the FISH Walk-In Center located at 2430-B Periwinkle Way, Sanibel.
Graciously sponsored by Inky and Jack Meng, the open house will showcase the work of FISH, whose mission is to lend a helping hand to those who live, work or visit here, while enriching the lives of everyone on Sanibel and Captiva Islands through an array of food programs, island based workshops, social services and helping hands.
“We want the community to discover how FISH positively impacts and assists our neighbors. FISH board members will be available for discussion and tours, and you will also have an opportunity to meet FISH staff and volunteers, the real heroes of our organization. Feel free to invite friends and neighbors to learn how we all are making a difference in our community,” states Maggi Feiner, President & CEO of FISH.
Light hors d’oeuvres with wine pairing, provided by Sanibel Catering Company by Bailey’s, will be offered. Handicap Only Parking is offered on-site; additional parking is available at Bailey’s General Store.
Alicia Tighe, FISH Executive Director, said, “We are so proud of the programs and services we are able to offer to our residents, workforce, and visitors and would like to share information about FISH with the community. Often, when a neighbor requests assistance in one area of life, it is symptomatic of larger issues in the household. As a wrap-around service provider, when individuals or families come to us for the first time, they speak with a staff member to determine their specific needs and to learn about other programs that can put them on a pathway to self-sustainability.”
For over 37 years, FISH has been the social service organization on Sanibel and Captiva. Started in island residents’ kitchens and out of their cars, FISH has continued to grow to meet the demands of the community thanks to the generosity of their donors and volunteers. FISH is proud to say that 93 percent of every dollar donated goes directly to their services and programs.
