She Sells Sea Shells Gives Back Through FISH
She Sells Sea Shells is an award-winning, family-owned business on Sanibel since 1976. The Joffe family believes in giving back to the community and were delighted to do it as a Silver Sponsor of the 11th Annual 10K Race 4 F.I.S.H. “Giving back is a core value of She Sells Sea Shells and we love the work F.I.S.H. does in our community,” said the Joffe family. “We are happy to support the race again this year.”
The ocean boutique boast the most extensive collection of handmade shell crafts and ornaments including Christmas decorations, novelties, animals and flowers. She Sells Sea Shells has been repeatedly voted “Best Shell Shop” in Southwest Florida by Fort Myers News-Press readers. It's also been awarded “Best of the Islands” for many years.
“Sea Sells Sea Shells is not only fun to say, but is a fun place to visit,” said 10K Race Committee Co-Chair Ed Ridlehoover. “We are grateful for the support of the Joffe family and their business; both are a wonderful part of our community.”
Anne, David, son Michael and daughter Tamara are the driving forces behind the She Sells Sea Shells store. The friendly personnel and talented craft workers add the charm. Anne is a shell expert, shell show judge, author and shell craft designer. Her love for shells goes back to her childhood, but her degree in microbiology aids her interest in the scientific study of shells.
What began as a simple mom-and-pop shop in 1973 in Louisville, She Sells Sea Shells has grown into a world-recognized business and must-see stop on Sanibel. “Sanibel is synonymous with shelling,” says Anne. “My hobby actually became my life. I've been very lucky to turn it into a viable business.”
