F.I.S.H is experiencing an outpouring of community support in response to the critical needs of the most vulnerable in our community who are severely impacted by the COVID-19 epidemic. Among those recent gifts is $10,000 from the Sanibel Captiva Rotary Club and $5,000 from the Committee of the Islands (COTI) which will be used to aid those affected by the pandemic.

“We are so fortunate to have an organization like F.I.S.H. that is intimately involved with out community. This is a time for all island residents and visitors to help support those folks who take care of us all year long,” said Christine Andrews, COTI President.

“We are experiencing an unprecedented crisis on our Islands, and the impact is devastating. The San Cap Rotary Trust Fund Board is extremely honored to grant F.I.S.H. $10,000 for immediate relief to workers, residents, and their families on our Islands,” John Henshaw, Chairman Sanibel-Captiva Rotary Trust Fund added.

F.I.S.H. has continued uninterrupted service for all of their food and emergency financial services, with small changes in operations to ensure the safety of clients, volunteers, and staff. “We are so deeply grateful to our community for empowering us to serve our neighbors in need. Particularly, the Rotary, COTI and the many organizations, individuals, and businesses who have recognized the need during this unprecedented time,” said Alicia Tighe, F.I.S.H. Executive Director. “We’re so humbled and extend our heartfelt appreciation our invaluable volunteers who have been working hard to assemble and distribute food at the food pantry, deliver meals to seniors, and the myriad of other ways they’re ensuring we’re still running,” said added.

Maggi Feiner, F.I.S.H. President & CEO, who has been with the organization for over 16 years notes that this is a hallmark of our islands, “The outpouring of support we have experienced is a true expression of the generosity and “heart” of our special community.”

F.I.S.H is a 38-year-old human services organization, focused on neighbors helping neighbors. The mission of F.I.S.H. is to lend a helping hand to those who live, work or visit Sanibel and Captiva and our vision is to enrich the lives of everyone on Sanibel and Captiva Islands through an array of Food Programs, Island Based Workshops, Social Services and Helping Hands.
