Back-to-School Supplies and Tutoring through FISH OF SANCAP
The FISH OF SANCAP Back-to-School Supplies Program for the 2020/2021 school year distributed supplies to 128 school-aged children which included the essentials the upcoming school year, including extras for those returning to on-campus classrooms, where communal school supplies won’t be as available as in years past due to COVID-19 safety guidelines. Thanks to community support, FISH received an abundance of supplies and financial donations to help defray the expense of back-to-school supplies for our island neighbors.
In additional to supplies, FISH offers tutoring scholarships for children in numerous subjects and at various levels. The client is responsible for identifying and arranging for a tutor that fits the need of their child, and if approved, FISH can assist with the cost of the tutoring assistance.
“With the turbulent close of the last school year and uncertainty in this school year we anticipate further growth in our tutoring assistance program,” states Alicia Tighe Orgera, Executive Director. “We have several students who have been using tutors over the summer, virtually, in order to ensure they’re ready to start the new school year despite impacts of COVID.”
Families who are interested in additional back to school supplies and/or tutoring may contact FISH at 239-472-4775. For additional information on FISH programs and services, please contact Alicia Tighe Orgera at 239-472-4775 or visit www.fishofsancap.org
