Helping Neighbors: SanCap Realtors FISH Food Challenge
Last month, the Sanibel & Captiva Islands Association of REALTORS® challenged its Members and Affiliate Business Partners to donate much needed food and/or supplies to the FISH Food Pantry.
The #sancapFISHfoodchallenge was put together by the Communications and Public Relations Committee of the association led by Chair Kelly Huguenin. The Challenge is to gather some non-perishable food items and drop them off at FISH or make a monetary donation. Members post a picture on Facebook of the food being dropped off to FISH and nominate 3 fellow REALTORS® or Affiliates to complete the challenge as well. Over 20 REALTORS® or Affiliates have accepted the Challenge and have participated to date, with hopes that more will continue to donate throughout the summer. “We thought it would be a safe, fun, and motivational challenge to help our local community and all the families in need during these trying times. The COVID-19 Crisis has changed the world as we know it. We are so very fortunate to have such supportive REALTOR® and Affiliate members,” said committee chair Kelly Huguenin.
“We are so thankful to the Sanibel & Captiva Islands Association of REALTORS® for thinking of FISH and pledging to help our community during this crisis,” states Alicia Tighe, Executive Director, FISH. “Summer is always a busy time for the Food Pantry, so the contributions from our neighbors have been incredibly important in helping those in need. It’s also been a wonderful way to meet lots of our local agents!”
For over 38 years, FISH has been the social service organization on Sanibel and Captiva. Started in island residents’ kitchens and out of their cars, FISH continues to grow to meet the demands of the community thanks to the generosity of donors and volunteers.
