In observance of Bully Prevention Month, FISH of SANCAP is sponsoring BullySafe, USA at Sanibel”, an anti-bullying forum for youth and adults. Held on Mon. Oct. 23 from 5:30 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. at The Sanibel Community House, 2173 Periwinkle Way, participants will be able to recognize bullying signs within any environment they may be involved. A light dinner will be provided.
Bullying has become a serious concern across the country. Parents, teachers and students are all working to help spread awareness and stop these heinous acts from occurring in their community’s backyard. In order to stop bullying, everyone in the community needs to get involved and stop turning a blind eye when they see a bully-like act. Bullying seminars are a great way to help spread awareness. Bullying seminars are those that focus on raising awareness and help those currently going through a situation feel comfortable enough to get the help they need.
“Two phenomenal facilitators will be leading the activities for the day. Mary Fischer and Jan Klein have a national certification as trainers with Bully Safe USA and empower children and adults to take control of their lives and make our world bully free,” says Kathy Y. Monroe, M.S.G., FISH Program Director. “One of the goals of this forum is to help youth to be able to identify bullying behavior, and to know how to seek help from an authority figure if they are being bullied or have observed others being bullied. It will also help educators, principals, counselors, parents, grandparents and community leaders understand how serious this issue is and to give them strategies for prevention and intervention.”
